Computer class for beginners set for Bridges

Beginner computer classes will start in March at Bridges Senior Center, 221 W. Etna Road, Ottawa.

The four-week class will introduce new computer users to basic terminology by way of both visual presentation and hands-on experience. Students will learn about the components of both computer hardware and software.

The four-week course will introduce new computer users to basic computer terminology by visual presentation and hands-on workshop experience. Topics covered will include: powering a computer on and off, proper mouse operation, keyboard keys and their functions. Also included will be desktop and window management, Internet usage and the comparison of Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 operating systems within the four-week course.

Participants are encouraged to use their own laptops, and those who don't have access to a laptop may request the use of a Senior Center computer.

Classes will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays, March 2, 9, 16 and 23. A $45 donation is suggested for the class, and participants must register by Friday, Feb. 26. To register, or receive additional information, call 815-431-8034 or 866-331-8034.
